The kids' name was Arthur Decker. He always had a thing about grabing things. His mother called him Gravity because he was always pulling things toward himself. You may have met kids like this, sitting on their father's lap while he read the paper the kid whould be grabing at the pages. This was the way Arthur was.
There was the incident when he was three. Art saw his mother busy at the stove. Wanting to know what was going on he climbed up on a nearby chair and had was just reaching for the handle of a boiling pot when his mother stopped him, narrowly short of scalding himself from the boiling hot water.
Then there was the time the family went to the zoo.
Arthur saw the reptiles and the smelly ape pens but when they got to the big cat cages Arthur became totally infatuated with the whole business. While his mother and father were watching a cat being fed in a cage behind them Arthur climbed though the first levels of bars and tried to climb through the next. This would have put him the cage with several lions.
But being too big Arthur just couldn't get through. Fustrated Arthur choose instead to grab a bowl of water on the floor. When a lion saw this the felines reaction was his food was being stolen so he did what animals in the wild do and he leaped onto Arthur's out reached hand then ripped all the fingers off. Arthur sceamed for two whole hours while he waited
for the doctors to knock him out with drugs and remove what was left of the hand.
